Hemp Protein Balls

These hemp protein balls are a great mid-day snack to keep you full. They contain a decent amount of protein and fat to keep you full and satisfied and are really easy to make. You just need a handful of ingredients and a food processor. They are also gluten-free, peanut-free, refined sugar-free and dairy-free.

Ingredients

Walnuts – This is the base of the balls. You want to use raw, unsalted walnuts. I buy mine from Costco.

Hemp powder – Hemp powder is a great source of protein and fat. You could also substitute this with any other protein powder you have on hand as long as you like the taste.

Dates – Dates give the balls their sweetness and help them stick together. I prefer to use Medjool dates but you could also use deglet dates. If you’re dates are old or dry, soak them in warm water for 5-10 minutes before using to soften them up.

Cashew butter – You can substitute any nut or seed butter. I bought mine from the store but you could also make your own cashew butter.

Hemp hearts – Hemp hearts are a great source of essential vitamins and minerals and omega-3 and omega-6 fats. I buy mine from Costco but if you can’t find them, you could also use cacao powder, coconut flakes or finely chopped walnuts to roll the balls in.

Instructions

  1. Place hemp hearts in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Blend walnuts in food processor until fine.
  3. Add in hemp protein, dates, cashew butter, vanilla and salt and blend well.
  4. Scoop out dough and roll into balls with your hands. Roll balls into hemp hearts to cover and place on parchment paper.
  5. Store in fridge for 2 hours to chill, then enjoy!

Storing Instructions

Store balls in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
