Wow, I can’t believe it’s 2020! Last year seemed to fly by and now it’s another new beginning. I always like making New Years Resolutions to reflect on how I want to improve over the year. I think it’s important to also make goals throughout the year, but I don’t see the harm in making New Year Resolutions when January 1st comes around yearly! 🙂 One of my goals this year is to put more effort into this blog. I’ve been neglecting it over the past year (or two) and it’s something I enjoy doing. Even though it doesn’t make me any money, sometimes it’s nice to have hobbies that are hobbies and not side hustles, ya know? Anyway, let’s get into what this blog is really about: my new favorite vitamin, Gem!
I first found out about Gem by a girl promoting it on Instagram so as you can imagine I was skeptical. While there are a lot of honest influencers out there, it’s hard to know who is actually telling the truth about a product and who is just trying to make a quick buck. I checked out Gem’s website and decided that it was a little too pricey at $55/month to try out. A few weeks later, Cyber Monday rolled around and an ad popped up on my Instagram offering me 50% off my first month. I’m a sucker for a good deal and was already looking for a vitamin/supplement to start adding to my diet so it was perfect timing. I ordered the cacao flavor and received my first month of “gems” in a cute pink canister shortly after. The canister is reusable, which I love, and they send you the next month in a bag so you can refill your canister.
I was excited to try my first Gem and had high hopes that I would like it. Now, I think it’s important to tell you what I thought it was going to taste like before I ate one… The girl on IG who was promoting them said they were kind of sweet and she liked to have them after her meal like dessert (she had the cacao flavor too). With this in mind and noticing that the first ingredient is dates, I figured they would be pretty sweet. I was rather surprised when I tried my first Gem and discovered that they were much less sweet than I thought. You could definitely taste the other ingredients and the dates and cacao weren’t overpowering like I thought they would be. I was actually glad to discover this because I was afraid I would eat the whole canister if they were sweet! After realizing they were not sweet like a dessert, I enjoyed them much more the following days. You have to get used to the flavor a little bit but I really enjoy them now that I know what to expect.
They are a bit pricey which is why I was hesitant to try them; however, after trying them I am definitely willing to pay this much for them. As I mentioned above, I was looking for a vitamin to supplement my diet to make sure I was getting enough of certain vitamins/minerals daily. Specifically, I wanted to make sure I was getting enough B12 because I was trying to eat less meat products, and I’ve always been skeptical on how well vitamins in pill/gummy form actually work. This company designed these vitamins specifically for women so they contain the essential vitamins we need daily. Since trying these gems for a month, I can honestly say that I love them and they are worth the money.

Yay! It took me a few days to like them because of their unique taste but now I love them! Even my husband who didn’t like them at first, has an order of peppermint come every month now just for him 🙂
