If you’ve read a few of my previous blog posts, you’ll know that I’ve been on the lookout for a vegan protein bar. That’s why I jumped at the chance to try the new Mezcla bars. They are a new vegan protein bar company that features artwork from people around the globe on their wrappers. Each wrapper is printed with a QR code that you can scan which takes you to a website with information about the art and artist. I thought this was a really unique concept and love that anyone can submit their artwork.

I received my 3 free bars which included peanut butter, chipotle hot chocolate & matcha vanilla. I was really excited to try the last two since I’d never heard of these flavors as a protein bar before. They are still giving customers three free bars away at their website, www.eatmezla.com. After trying all three bars, I would say that my favorite was the matcha vanilla, followed by the hot chocolate and then the peanut butter. The matcha vanilla was subtle enough to not be overpowering but also strong enough to give it a really nice flavor. The same went for the chipotle hot chocolate. There was a subtle hint of spice that I loved without being overpowering or too spicy. The peanut butter was also very good; however, I rated this one as my least favorite because it is pretty common in other protein bars and the other flavors were so unique! I loved the crispy texture of these bars and none of the flavors were dry which I find is pretty common in vegan protein bars. They have 10g of protein and are only 170 calories which is another plus in my book. A lot of the time I find that vegan protein bars are pretty high in calories and sugar with minimal protein. That is not the case for these bars.

I will definitely be adding these bars into my vegan staples and look forward to the new artwork they feature on their wrappers. If you try them, let me know what you think in the comments below!
